Books on a Mission: From Goshen to the World

Updated: Oct 12

This week Young Readers Outreach is sending books again! From Goshen, NY to the world, our mission keeps growing, we’ve already reached three of the seven continents! And with every package, we send not only stories on paper, but also little notes of love and encouragement.

A college student beginning her college journey opened her book to find the reminder: “You’ve got this! One day at a time.” An 8-year-old big sister, suddenly helping with two new siblings, was encouraged with: “Keep shining bright. You make a big difference every day.” And a young mother of three, holding her family together, was uplifted by the words: “Even on the messy days, you are amazing.”

Alongside these notes, some of the treasures we shared this week included Sucktown, Alaska, Women Writing Africa, Healthy Meals for Babies and Toddlers, Clash, Super Natural Simple, and Work Left Undone. Each book carries its own magic; whether it’s stories of resilience, wisdom passed down, practical guidance, or pure inspiration. Together, they remind us why books are worth sharing with the world.

These moments show that literacy is more than reading- it’s connection, care, and hope.

Help us keep the circle growing:

  • Donate your gently used books. Check out our new and updated calendar pick up request!

  • Nominate someone who could use a hug made of pages.

  • Volunteer or reach out to us. We’re always looking for new opportunities to serve and support our community.

  • Support our mission. Like us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, and share our posts to spread the joy of reading.

From the heart of Orange County, NY to the world, we’re proving that books carry more than words.
